SOLEMNITY OF CHRIST THE KING
Christ the King Sunday is celebrated on the last Sunday of Ordinary time (last Sunday after Pentecost), before the beginning of Advent that starts the new Church Year. As the last Sunday of the Christian Church Year, Christ the King Sunday is the climax and conclusion of the Church’s liturgical journey through the life of Christ and the Gospel message. Its purpose is to celebrate the coming reign of Christ as King of the Earth and his completion of the renewed creation that marks the fullness of the Kingdom of God. That hope is born from the entire life of Christ and his teachings that have been celebrated in the seasons of the Church Year during the past twelve months. In celebrating the Reign of Christ the King, this Sunday also provides an appropriate bridge to the new Church Year that begins the following Sunday on the first Sunday of Advent with an emphasis on hope and expectation, the longing for the coming of the Kingdom of God amid the darkness of a sinful world.

Architect José María V. Zaragoza - National Artist
St. John Bosco Parish proudly honors the late Architect José María V. Zaragoza , the new National Artist for Architecture, Design and Allied Arts , who designed the St. John Bosco Parish church, more than 35 years ago. Architect Zaragoza is credited for elevating the country’s architectural tradition with other iconic landmarks here and abroad, which include the Sto. Domingo Church in Quezon City, the National Shrine of the Miraculous Medal in Sucat, the Meralco Building and the Greenhills Shopping Center in Ortigas and the spacious re-designed interiors of Quiapo church. But beyond raising monuments of steel and concrete, this SJB Makati parishioner and daily Massgoer, together with his wife, Pilar, raised an exemplary family: accomplished, loving and God-fearing.

12 June 2014
Members of SJB Parish Organizations spent their Philippine Independence Day Holiday in the first Parish Assembly.
Main speaker, Fr. Renato De Guzman, SJB Parish Priest, made a presentation on the first Christian Community and how the relationships and organization of its members became the models of present-day Parish ministries.
Among the topics are: the Good Shepherd style of Parish Ministry and the 5 C's of Pastoring the Parish Community
Please click here for a copy of one of the attendees' notes during the assembly.
The Don Bosco Youth Center (DBYC), an invaluable fixture of hundreds of Salesian settings all over the world, is modeled after Don Bosco's Oratory:
The Oratory is a place, an attitude and a method. The Salesian approach to youth ministry is first and foremost a way to Jesus.
Through the years, SJB Parish Makati's DBYC has been the seedbed for creative, committed Parish youth leaders, the future movers, leaders and exemplary citizens of society.
